Ted Coburn is a graduate of Harvard University (M.Div, M.Ed, CAS), Columbia University (MBA) and the University of Virginia (BS). He has over 30 years of investment banking and capital markets experience. As both an investment banker and an underwriter with Kidder Peabody & Co., Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, Prudential Securities, Brown Coburn & Co., Coburn Capital Group and Coburn Greenberg Partners, he has structured and implemented a broad range of equity and debt transactions, played a central role in several major international privatizations and became a national expert in closed end mutual funds. He has deep industry knowledge in the fields of information technology and education, and extensive hands on experience in developing, financing and operating independent and charter schools having worked with such organizations as Nations Academy, Edison Schools and Ascend Learning.
Ted is active in the not-for-profit community. He was part of the founding team for one of the first state-appointed charter schools in Massachusetts as well as for a Harvard-based intervention and after school program for “at risk” youth. Ted continues with his interest in education reform, working pro bono for charter school groups in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Ted also serves as a Trustee for Allianz Global Investors and as a Director for Ramtron International.
